The Festival team at Edition I

In the Beginning

In 2016, a group of six passionate film students realized they had produced a lot films during their class projects; and had adesire to share those stories beyond the classroom.

Driven by this need in 2017, we formed a team that was fueled by our passion for storytelling. We wanted to see other film students & budding filmmakers not only get a platform to showcase their films but also get empowerment opportunities to advance their craft. Cump productions was then registered and has since been running the Cump Film Festival, the first independent student’s film festival in Kenya that is dedicated to celebrate authentic African stories.

We have since dedicated our efforts, time and resources inmaking this dream come true for many other students in Kenya by putting together an independent student’s film festival.

Impact

Cump Film Festival was invited as one of the partners at the World Film Fair 2018 which took place on the 26th to 31st of October 2018 in New York, USA.

The invite also opened up slots to showcase 20 short films and one feature film for free during the film fair. We were very esteemed to be invited as the only film festival to represent Kenya in New York, USA. This means the global space is opening up immense opportunities for our African stories.

Mission

To identify, empower and spotlight budding filmakers.

Vision

To be a film festivalthat produces authentic storytellers made in Africa to the world
